Sadly, Miracles for Satos Rescue in Puerto Rico has found many puppies dumped along the side of the road. Oftentimes, these locations are not safe for young canines, and abandoning them only puts them at a high risk of death.
In one rescue video, animal lover Ashley Boggs was confused when she saw cars halting in front of her. Then, she spotted a terrified female dog running across the road. The canine kept running up to cars, pleading for help, but the cars kept driving. Boggs couldn’t pass by without doing something, so she got out of the car and approached the dog.
Mother Dog Begs for Help
The stray dog ran right up to Boggs and put her paws on her. She looked like she was trying to say something. Boggs noticed that she looked like a nursing mom, so when the dog started walking away, she followed her. Sure enough, the dog walked right to two tiny puppies on the side of the road.
Boggs brought the mom and two puppies into the safety of her car. Then, she walked back over to where the puppies were to see if there were more. As she walked deeper into the wooded area, she found two, then three, then four more puppies! All the tiny puppies excitedly approached her with wagging tails.

“I was surprised that there were so many,” Boggs said. “I was also sad because I knew that they wouldn’t have survived if I hadn’t found them. There was no food or water left, and they were in a very secluded area. It is joyful and sorrowful all at the same time. They were just so adorable.”
There was a small plastic crate next to the puppies, so someone must have carried them in it before abandoning them. Boggs couldn’t believe someone would be so heartless, but luckily, the crate made it easy for her to gather all the puppies and bring them to safety.
Precious Puppies Survive!
Boggs works with Miracles for Satos Rescue, so she brought the mom and puppies there as quickly as she could. The seven dogs got proper care right away, which likely saved the lives of the tiny puppies. Despite going through a horrific experience, the dogs were all very loving toward humans.
“[The mom] was so loving and kept kissing and hugging me to say thank you,” Boggs said. “The puppies are extremely playful. They love to play with the volunteers and tug on shoe laces.”
The mom and her babies ended up becoming the “berry litter.” The mom is named Goji, and her six puppies are Raspberry, Gooseberry, Blueberry, Cloudberry, Strawberry, and Blackberry. Three of the puppies are males and the other three are females.
Currently, Cloudberry is the only one of the family still up for adoption, but the rescue has lots of other amazing puppies and adult dogs available.
