Katie Maloney appeared on Kristen Doute’s podcast last week, where she offered an update on her and Ariana Madix‘s sandwich shop, Something About Her.

Before admitting in a separate interview that she wants to be “far away” from Vanderpump Rules co-star Raquel Leviss, who hooked up with her ex-husband, Tom Schwartz, just months after their split, Katie discussed the “extra work” she and Ariana are doing on their new restaurant before accusing Schwartz and his business partner, Tom Sandoval, of doing things “backwards” when it came to Schwartz & Sandy’s.

“You think that finding the location is the hardest part, so you think, but there are so many factors that go into it, it’s not as simple as like picking out paint or tables and chairs, it’s like a lot of extra work, legal stuff that goes into it, licenses and entitlements and things,” Katie explained on the February 8 episode of Sex, Love, and What Else Matters, via Heavy.

While Katie and Ariana have found a location, reportedly near SUR in West Hollywood, they still have a lot to do before they can open their doors. So before they get to the “fun parts” of starting a business, Katie said they are focusing on “working with consultants to really map out in great detail the business plan [and] the budget.”

Katie then said she didn’t agree with the process Schwartz and Sandoval took to open Schwartz and Sandy’s.

“No shade to the guys but they kind of worked backwards, I don’t think that helped them in the long run, it cost them a lot of money and a lot of time and so kind of — not necessarily learning from that but that sort of reinforced that we were doing things the correct way,” she said.

Looking forward to the opening of the shop, Katie said she and Ariana are going for a timeless and “romantic” look that has been inspired by the interiors seen in Nancy Meyers’ films.

“It’s not trendy, it doesn’t feel like this is a trendy spot, it feels like it’s kind of been there forever in a way,” she explained.

During another interview with Us Weekly, Katie was asked where she stands with Raquel months after she hooked up with Schwartz in Mexico.

“Nowhere. I stand far away,” Katie revealed. “That’s where I stand.”

According to Katie, she “tried” to make it work with Raquel. But, she continued, “Some things are just not meant to be. And our friendship is probably one of them.”

As for her relationship with Schwartz, Katie said they are doing their best to stay on good terms.

“I have a history with Tom and we have dogs, so I was a little bit more keen to try to repair and work through [everything],” she noted. “We’re trying to figure out where the sweet spot is in our friendship that we can remain in each other’s lives, remain friends, but it’s not causing too much rift and all of that.”

Vanderpump Rules season 10 airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
