Despite rumors of a ban, TikTok continues to make headlines of changes on the app that could happen as early as March 2023.

The platform believes the paywall and Creator Fund 2.0 will help creators stay on the app and reward them for creating content. Creators will be able to charge at least $1 for users to watch their videos. In addition to the paywall, TikTok plans on introducing Creator Fund 1.0., a spinoff from the original Creator Fund, which will pay users with over 100,000 followers in effort to keep them on the app, per The Information.

“We’re committed to exploring new ways to create a valuable and rewarding experience for the TikTok creator community,”  a TikTok spokesperson told Insider.

“On TikTok, anyone can be a creator and everyone can enjoy entertainment from our inspiring creators, and we aim to continue innovating this experience so people can express themselves, find their community, and be rewarded for their creativity,” the spokesperson said.

The new additions are in hopes of attracting a new audience, specifically an adult crowd which has been totally opposite to the growth the app saw during the pandemic.
