The Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, Office of Apprenticeship has awarded its first black woman-owned non-union apprenticeship sponsor $20K to provide pre-apprenticeship training to Maryland residents.

Interns4Hire is a state-approved (group employer) apprenticeship sponsor in the State of Maryland created by a black woman which offers computer programming and graphic design certifications at no cost to individuals interested in gaining experience in the industry.

“This apprenticeship program was created for the youth that can’t afford to go to college; the ‘aging’ whose occupation has been phased out, and they feel displaced due to technology; all minorities that live in communities where the public education system has failed them due to lack of funding available for STEAM-led educational programs. We did this for you!” says Interns4Hire Chair, Tarsha Weary.

“Apprenticeship is a resource that is rarely publicized in low-income communities because many don’t meet the prerequisites needed to get in the door. Typically, there’s not a shortage of jobs, there’s a shortage of qualified candidates for the job. That is why Interns4Hire is very appreciative to the U.S. Department of Labor ApprenticeshipUSA Expansion grants, and the Maryland
Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (DLLR) Office of Apprenticeship for this grant which allows us to offer this pre-apprenticeship training to its residents. This will help begin the process of lessening the digital divide gap for Maryland residents that fall into these categories mentioned due to no fault of their own,” Tarsha Weary continued.

Preapprenticeships are designed to prepare workers for the minimum requirements for entry into an established apprenticeship program. If you are interested in applying for one of the positions, please visit the website at www.thecareerleaders.co/apprenticeship.

If you are an employer in good standing in the State of Maryland and you would like to join this non-union apprenticeship group (at no cost to you) please email [email protected]. Interns4Hire.com will train candidates that you select for employment opportunities at no cost to you. We specialize in computer programming (web development) and graphic design training. Together, we can make a difference!
