“It’s an honor to help North Texans start their day!” Beausoleil wrote on social media. She said she’s grateful for the opportunity to work with the station’s morning team, adding that the new schedule is especially meaningful as “a mom of 4 under the age of 6,” giving her the chance to have dinner with her family before 5 p.m.

“Here’s to early mornings, learning to sleep-on-time and a new adventure!” she wrote.

A Katy native, Beausoleil earned her journalism degree from the University of Missouri before beginning her television career at KOMU in Columbia, Mo. She later reported at WCIA in Champaign, Ill., before returning to Texas in 2012 to join KXAN in Austin.

During her time at KXAN, she covered major stories including the West fertilizer plant explosion, former President Barack Obama’s visit to Austin, the state budget and the deadly Dallas police ambush, according to her station biography.

Beausoleil returned to her hometown in 2017 when she joined KPRC 2. While in Houston, she reported on Hurricane Harvey, Super Bowl LI, the 2017 World Series, the Mexico City earthquake and other major breaking news events.

Her promotion comes as NBC 5 has undergone other notable on-air changes this year. In June, longtime meteorologist Samantha Davies departed the station after more than 17 years at NBC 5 and nearly 20 years with NBCUniversal.
