Casio is set to launch the new G-SHOCK GW-BX5600CBG this April, introducing an eco-conscious twist to its iconic lineup. Priced at 35,200 yen (around $220), the watch stands out with a cloth band crafted from recycled fishing nets—materials that are a major source of marine pollution.
The band features a subtle pattern inspired by the surface of water, reinforcing its ocean-friendly theme. In addition, biomass plastics are used for the case and bezel, while the special edition packaging is also made from recycled materials.
The Casio GW-BX5600CBG is based on the GW-BX5600 series, originally released in November 2025. It comes equipped with an advanced MIP (Memory-in-Pixel) LCD that delivers sharp visuals, wide viewing angles, and strong contrast for improved readability. Users can easily switch between display styles with a button, and even customize number fonts through app connectivity.
Powered by a quartz movement (module 3578), the watch offers G-SHOCK’s signature shock resistance along with 20 ATM water resistance. It supports solar charging, Bluetooth connectivity via the CASIO WATCHES app, and radio-controlled timekeeping for enhanced accuracy.
Feature-wise, the watch includes world time across 55 cities, a 1/100-second stopwatch, countdown timer, alarms with hourly signals, battery level indicator, power-saving mode, and a fully automatic calendar. Additional conveniences include 12/24-hour format switching, operation sound control, date and day display, and a white LED backlight.
On a full charge, the GW-BX5600CBG can run for approximately six months under normal use without further solar input, or up to 22 months in power-saving mode. The watch measures 49.1 × 44.1 × 13.4 mm and weighs just 55 grams, making it both durable and lightweight for everyday wear.
