The Honda CR-V enters its next chapter with a refreshed lineup that places hybrid technology front and center. With the introduction of two e:HEV full hybrid variants, the CR-V strengthens its role as Honda’s most versatile SUV, balancing efficiency, performance, and everyday usability without departing from the qualities that have made it a long-standing favorite.
While not a ground-up redesign, the latest CR-V continues on its sixth-generation platform, now enhanced with expanded electrification, upgraded features, and deeper digital integration for the Philippine market. According to Honda Cars Philippines, Inc., the updated lineup reflects the brand’s push to make hybrid mobility more accessible while retaining the CR-V’s reputation for comfort and reliability.
Three Variants, Distinct Mobility Profiles
The new CR-V lineup is designed around three clear use cases.
At the top of the range is the CR-V 2.0 RS e:HEV AWD E-CVT, a premium hybrid SUV that combines electrified efficiency with Real-Time All-Wheel Drive. It is aimed at drivers who juggle city commutes, business travel, and weekend getaways, offering added traction, stability, and a more dynamic driving character.
The CR-V 2.0 VX e:HEV E-CVT delivers a quieter and more comfort-oriented hybrid experience. It prioritizes refinement, fuel efficiency, and advanced technology, making it well suited for daily urban driving and longer provincial trips.
Completing the lineup is the CR-V 1.5 V Turbo HuNT CVT, the sole gasoline-powered variant. With a sportier personality and rugged styling cues unique to the local market, it caters to drivers who prefer a more aggressive driving feel while retaining the CR-V’s everyday practicality.
Hybrid Power That Works in Real Life
Both hybrid variants use Honda’s 2.0-liter Direct Injection Atkinson-cycle engine paired with a dual-motor e:HEV system. The gasoline engine produces 148PS and 183Nm of torque, while the electric motors deliver 184PS and 335Nm, resulting in smooth, responsive acceleration and improved efficiency.
Fuel economy figures underline the benefits of the system. Under UNR-101 testing, the VX e:HEV records 29.4km/L in urban conditions, while the RS e:HEV AWD achieves 21.3km/L. These gains translate to fewer fuel stops and lower running costs for daily driving.
The RS e:HEV AWD further stands out with Real-Time All-Wheel Drive, which actively distributes power to enhance grip and stability, especially on wet roads or uneven surfaces.
For drivers opting for the turbocharged variant, the 1.5-liter DOHC Direct-Injected engine delivers 190PS and 240Nm, offering strong highway performance and confident overtaking, with fuel efficiency rated at 16.4km/L under extra-urban conditions.
Safety, Comfort, and Driver Confidence
Across all variants, the CR-V comes equipped with Honda SENSING, providing a comprehensive suite of driver-assist features, including collision mitigation and adaptive cruise functions. Blind Spot Information and Cross Traffic Monitor further support safer lane changes and parking maneuvers.
Interior upgrades add to the premium feel. All variants feature black leather seats, with the RS model distinguished by red stitching and RS accents. Notably, the Head-Up Display, previously exclusive to the RS, is now also available on the VX hybrid variant. Both e:HEV models also gain Individual Driving Mode, allowing drivers to personalize vehicle response based on preference and road conditions.
A More Connected CR-V
Digital integration plays a bigger role in the new lineup. The CR-V now features Google Built-in, enabling hands-free access to navigation, media, and supported apps. This is complemented by Honda CONNECT, which allows owners to monitor vehicle status and access select functions remotely via smartphone.
To support long-term ownership, Honda backs the hybrid variants with an eight-year or 160,000-kilometer hybrid battery warranty, reinforcing confidence in its electrified technology.
A Familiar SUV, Now More Future-Ready
With its expanded hybrid lineup, the Honda CR-V evolves into a more efficient, connected, and adaptable SUV without losing its core strengths. It remains familiar in form and comfort, but more forward-looking in how it addresses fuel efficiency, safety, and digital convenience.
The result is a CR-V that feels well prepared for today’s mobility needs, offering Filipino drivers a practical entry point into hybrid ownership while continuing the model’s legacy as one of Honda’s most trusted nameplates.
