The Grammys are known for stars wearing some of their most daring looks. Did you know the very reason we have Google Images is from a Grammy gown breaking the internet? The green Versace dress worn by Jennifer Lopez was so heavily searched the next day that Google engineers pitched Google Images. Now another gown is being furiously searched for: Chappell Roan’s 2026 Grammy dress, which seems affixed by nipple piercings.

No wonder everyone’s talking about Chappell Roan tonight.

Her dress is literally hooked onto her nipple piercings.

I guess that’s one way to make an entrance.

Chappell Roan was wearing Castro Freitas’ Mugler SS26 contemporary recreation of Thierry Mugler’s iconic dress from 1998, which we’ll see after the cut. Freita explained “The collection revives old Hollywood glamour and the fetishised cliché of the showgirl, portrayed on the silver screen as a modern goddess and assimilated in the cultural psyche as a temptress assuming various forms.”

The original 1998 Mugler dress was actually held in place by nipple piercings. Source #7 below has more images of the original.

How the dress stayed on: Chappell Roan was wearing ultra-realistic silicone nipple covers that perfectly matched her skin tone. These acted as both coverage and structure. The silver “nipple rings” were attached through the prosthetics, not through piercings, and Chappie’s nips were completely protected from being ripped out or seen by prying eyes.
