In an interview with E! News, Margot Robbie – who stars in the movie Babylon opposite Brad Pitt – explains that she felt the unscripted kiss was in-keeping with her character.
“That wasn’t in the script. But I thought, when else am I gonna get the chance to kiss Brad Pitt? I’m just gonna go for it.”
However, she did speak with director Damien Chazelle beforehand to convince him to let her do it.
“I said, ‘Damien, I think Nellie would just go up and kiss Jack’. And Damien was like, ‘Well, she could – wait, hold on. You just wanna kiss Brad Pitt.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, so sue me.’“
Chazelle agreed, and after Robbie and Pitt had acted out the scene, instructed Robbie to do it again.
“He was like, ‘No, do it again. That really works,’. I was like, ‘Oh, great.’”
