Ben’s Original Recalls Ready Rice Over Stone Contamination

Shoppers are being warned to double-check their kitchen shelves after Ben’s Original announced a voluntary recall of several Ready Rice products because of potential contamination with small stones, federal officials said Tuesday.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) explained that the stones are “naturally occurring and originate from the rice farm,” but warned they could “pose possible risk of oral or digestive tract injury if consumed.”

The recall impacts specific batches of the following Ben’s Original items:

  • Ready Rice Long Grain White Rice: Batch Codes 533ELGRV22 and 534ALGRV22, Best By August 2026

  • Ready Rice Whole Grain Brown Rice: Batch Codes 534AMGRV22, 534BMGRV22, and 534DMGRV22, Best By August 2026

  • Ready Rice Long Grain & Wild Rice: Batch Codes 533BMGRV22, 533CLGRV22, and 533CMGRV22, Best By August 2026

According to the FDA, the affected products were sold through major retailers, including HEB, Target, United Markets, Amazon, and Piggly Wiggly.

While “no cases of injury or illness have been reported,” officials are urging customers not to eat the recalled rice. Anyone with questions or concerns can contact Ben’s Original Consumer Care at 1-800-548-6253 for guidance on refunds or product returns.
