Local city among most dangerous for trick-or-treating: Data

CLEVELAND (WJW) — A recent analysis of data has found that Cleveland ranks among the top 10 most dangerous cities in America for trick-or-treating.

In just weeks, little superheroes and princesses will fill the streets of northeast Ohio, running from house to house in hopes of collecting more candy than they’ll ever be able to eat; however, parents may be left carrying the real load — of concern.

The study by SafeHome.org, evaluated 161 cities using key safety metrics, including crime rates, pedestrian fatalities, the number of registered sex offenders, and local law enforcement presence. The review found that Cleveland ranked 9th most dangerous (#152 on the list) due to violent crime, property crime, and risk to pedestrians.

Here’s what the study found to be the Top 10 Most Dangerous Cities:

  1. Memphis, Tennessee
  2. Richmond, Virginia
  3. Little Rock, Arkansas
  4. Oakland, California
  5. Salt Lake City, Utah
  6. Albuquerque, New Mexico
  7. St. Louis, Missouri
  8. Detroit, Michigan
  9. Cleveland, Ohio
  10. San Bernardino, California

  1. Yonkers, New York
  2. Naperville, Illinois
  3. New York, New York
  4. Gilbert, Arizona
  5. Frisco, Texas
  6. Surprise, Arizona
  7. Honolulu, Hawaii
  8. Scottsdale, Arizona
  9. McKinney, Texas
  10. Irvine, California
