Don’t fall for rumor Erika Kirk launched Christian dating app after husband’s death

Following the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk on Sept. 10, 2025, rumors spread that his widow, Erika Kirk, announced the launch of a Christian dating app called “Faith & Fellowship” and joined the platform herself.

Kirk, who took over as CEO of Charlie Kirk’s political organization Turning Point USA after his death, allegedly announced the app in a social media post, according to an image that circulated on websites such as Instagram (archived), Reddit (archived) and iFunny.co (archived). 

Dozens of Snopes readers searched the site for information about the rumor. The alleged post by Erika Kirk read:

After losing Charlie last week, I wasn’t sure how to move forward. But God put a new mission in my heart: helping young Christians find one another. That’s why I’m proud to introduce Faith & Fellowship, our new dating app. Yes, I’m on it too!

In reality, the purported screenshot was fake. Although elements of the image matched Erika Kirk’s real X profile, such as her handle and profile picture, her real account did not make the post.

The claim originated with Reddit account u/SOYBOYPILLED in the subreddit r/TOTALLYREALTWEETS (archived) on Sept. 22. The upper right corner of the alleged screenshot contained a label reading, “Follow r/totallyrealtweets.”

A pinned comment by the original poster read as follows:

Greetings r/all, and welcome to the internet’s premier source of completely authentic tweets that are 100% really real, r/TOTALLYREALTWEETS. Wow, Erika sure is moving on fast, isn’t she? But hey, there’s a mission at hand, and missions require resources. New TPUSA initiatives and merchandise are essential to the cause, and you’ve got to strike while the iron’s hot!

In another comment on Sept. 25, the same user posted the following, indicating the satirical nature of the account’s posts:

My motivation is singular: to make people laugh. I am of course well aware that people often fall for my work, think that it’s real. I would argue that’s always the case with satire, and that the hallmark of effective satire is that which strains believability to its limits.

I know not everyone agrees. I know that many consider what I do irresponsible. And I actually believe their arguments have merit. But I ultimately think that what I do has value, even if there are some unintended consequences

The user’s Reddit profile read, “Dips*** fake tweet writer for r/totallyrealtweets.”

In sum, the claim that Erika Kirk announced the launch of a Christian dating app originated with a Reddit account that describes its output as satire.

This wasn’t the first time we’ve investigated a rumor stemming from a post by the Reddit account u/SOYBOYPILLED in the r/TOTALLYREALTWEETS subreddit.
