Did Kelly Clarkson announce she would cut ties with brands supporting LGBTQ+ community?

[ad_1]

In September 2025, posts surfaced on social media claiming that singer and talk-show host Kelly Clarkson announced she was cutting ties with all brands that support LGBTQ+ causes without any evidence to corroborate the claim.

The rumor appeared after the conservative activist Charlie Kirk was fatally shot during a Sept. 10 event at Utah Valley University. According to posts sharing the rumor, Clarkson announced the decision at a NASCAR event over “explosive revelations about Charlie Kirk’s assassin.”

While the social media posts never explained what the “explosive revelations” were, they were often accompanied by links to unreliable websites. Those articles claimed Clarkson’s decision was a response to reports that Tyler Robinson, the man accused of killing Kirk, had a transgender roommate. Snopes has separately investigated that allegation.

The claim in the social media posts and on the websites was false. There was no evidence to support the assertion that Clarkson had cut ties with brands supporting LGBTQ+ causes. If there was even a sliver of truth to the claim, reputable entertainment media outlets would have interviewed parties involved and reported on the news. Searching Google and DuckDuckGo for stories detailing Clarkson’s supposed actions turned up no articles confirming the rumor.

The claim, like many other celebrity news posts that link to unreliable websites, appeared to be made up, likely in an effort to earn revenue from advertisements and social media companies.

Snopes has debunked several rumors about celebrities’ supposed reactions to Kirk’s death. For instance, we debunked supposed tributes to Kirk from Paul McCartney, Eminem and Ed Sheeran.
