In a social media video shared by the ex-performer, he revealed that he is currently working in a restaurant kitchen.
The Los Angeles native also said he is open to guest cooking for events or restaurants and invited fans to tag businesses online. It is unclear whether this will become a long-term career, but followers are happy to see him pursuing a quieter, more low-key life after leaving music.
During his music stint, iLoveMakonnen’s journey included his ties to OVO and rumored tension with Drake, which reportedly affected some of his label opportunities. There were also rumors that his sexuality derailed his career, with even Migos shading him in 2017 for coming out publicly.
Despite these challenges, iLoveMakonnen’s move to the culinary world reflects his ability to embrace new opportunities beyond the music industry.
Since retiring last year, the rapper and singer has stepped away from the pressures of fame and the public spotlight, seemingly for good.
