The Detroit Lions made a flurry of roster moves Tuesday as they worked to get down to the NFL’s 53-man roster limit. The transactions included injured list placements, releases, and injury settlements, impacting multiple positions across the depth chart.
Injured List Placements
- LB Ezekiel Turner was placed on Reserve/Injured after suffering a significant injury in the preseason finale.
- OL Miles Frazier, DL Alim McNeill, and LB Malcolm Rodriguez were all moved to the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, meaning they’ll be unavailable to start the season.
- DE Josh Paschal was placed on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list.
Waived with Injury Settlement
- DE Ahmed Hassanein, the Lions’ sixth-round rookie, was waived with an injury settlement following a pectoral injury that sidelined him during training camp.

Detroit also announced a long list of players who were waived as part of roster reductions:

What It Means
With these moves, Detroit trimmed its roster significantly, while still leaving room for potential additions via waiver claims or free agency. Players placed on Reserve lists could return later in the season, while several of those waived are expected to be practice squad candidates if they clear waivers.
Head coach Dan Campbell and GM Brad Holmes continue to shape the final roster as the Lions prepare for Week 1.
