CLEVELAND (WJW) — As the Cleveland Guardians got ready to mount a comeback in the American League Championship Series against the New York Yankees, Progressive Field got ready to host the series in front of hometown fans.

“We’re excited. Obviously, things didn’t go the way we wanted in New York, but we are coming home,” said spokesperson Curtis Danburg.

The Guardians return to Cleveland on Thursday after falling to 0-2 in New York.

“I think the biggest thing is we haven’t played at home yet and we have one of the best home records in all of baseball,” said Danburg.

Meanwhile, fans are encouraged to “Rock Their Red” and “Get Loud” at and around the ballpark as Gateway Plaza hosts a variety of entertainment and events including a DJ, giveaways, screens showing the games, a pregame band and photo opportunities.

Festivities are planned for the ALCS at Progressive Field from Oct. 17-19.

“Obviously we have to ratchet things up a bit — a lot more media coming. So we have new signage, new graphics on the scoreboard,” said Danburg.

There will also be postseason festivities happening all around the ballpark, including a watch party on Gateway Plaza.

All gates will open two-and-a-half hours prior to the scheduled start time during all league championship series games.
