Hundreds Of Thousands Still Without Power Following Tuesday’s Storm

A strong wave of storms rolled through Northeast Ohio Tuesday, knocking down trees and downing powerlines all across the region. Hundreds of thousands of residents are still without power following the massive surge.

Two tornados were confirmed. One in Bedford and Valley View, and another that ran through Lorain County and ended up in Rocky River.

So, when can Greater Cleveland residents expect to have their lights turned back on?

According to reports, the hardest hit communities may be looking as long as Wednesday, August 14 by 11:30 p.m. If that turns out to be true then the restoration would be more than a week after the storms knocked out power.

As of this morning, nearly 260,000 residents in Northeast Ohio are still without power.

Here are the current estimates of when power could be restored for the following areas according to FOX 8:

  • Cuyahoga County: 175,755 outages
    • Estimated restoration: Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 11:30 p.m.
  • Ashtabula County: 6,226 outages
    • Estimated restoration: Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 11:30 p.m.
  • Geauga County: 21,304 outages
    • Estimated restoration: Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 11:30 p.m.
  • Lake County: 42,234 outages
    • Estimated restoration: Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 11:30 p.m.
  • Lorain County: 14,124 outages
    • Estimated restoration: Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 11:30 p.m.
