Actress Mandy Moore, who portrayed the matriarch of the Pearson family in the long-running television series This is Us, has just welcomed a new four-legged member to her real life family!

Found wandering the streets by the nanny of Moore’s children, Marshmallow–who was named by the star’s 2-year-old son, Gus–is approximately 6 – 7 months old, and was neither chipped nor neutered (which will soon be rectified) when he was discovered.

Moore relayed to fans via Instagram that “We weren’t looking for another dog but he was looking for us…”

Marshmallow, who bears a striking resemblance to Moore’s previous pup Joni, who crossed Rainbow Bridge in 2020, now has several fur siblings– Jackson, a 14-year-old Shepherd mix rescue dog, and cats Fig, Olivia and Peanut.

A pal to all with paws, in 2020 Mandy Moore joined with Purina Cat Chow to promote their “Building Better Lives” program, which helped shelters in all 50 states.

In 2023, she helped to celebrate the cat brand’s 60th anniversary by penning the foreword to 60 Years, 60 Stories: Celebrating the Extraordinary Impact of Cat, a book that contained personal tales written by cat lovers across the country which illustrate the ways that cats touch our lives.
