Are you looking for the best Lake Como beaches where you can relax and unwind? I’ve got you covered! I’ll be sharing here the different beaches and lido that you can visit within the Lake Como area in Italy.

There isn’t a sea in Lombardy, but there is the lovely Lake Como. It provides 170 kilometers of coastline that alternates between lidos, free beaches, and equipped beaches. Travelers frequently stop in Lake Como while visiting Italy. It is a “Y”-shaped lake and the third largest in Italy.

Beaches on Lake Como frequently operate as beach clubs from which you can rent lounge chairs for the day and, frequently, go swimming in the pools that make up for the challenging access to the lake itself. As a result, these beaches rarely provide a “natural” and secluded experience.

Although there are also free beaches where you can just relax and have a picnic, the atmosphere is often hip and upscale. I also wrote another article about the Best Things to Do in Lake Como and our hotel review of Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni in Bellagio.

Here Are The Best Lake Como Beaches:

1. Isola Comacina

🏖 Location: Isola Comacina, 22010 Como CO, Italy

Best Lake Como Beaches: Isola Comacina

On Lake Como, there is only one island—Isola Comacina. This small island is practically uninhabited and attracts a lot of curious visitors between the months of March and October. It is situated in the waters off Tremezzina, a few kilometers north of Argegno.

Isola Comacina is a small island that looks out over the Zoca de l’oli, a bay that gets its name from the abundance of olives that grow there thanks to the region’s mild climate.

Isola Comacina’s history is quite strange, but after a long string of occurrences, the island sided with Milan in a ten-year war against Como in 1118, which Milan ultimately won. Como had the chance to exact revenge on the neighboring rebel lands in 1169 with the advent of Frederick Barbarossa, the Holy Roman Emperor.

The following year, the island was given back to the Italian government and then transferred to Milan’s Brera Academy, which continues to own it today. Pietro Lingeri, a rationalist architect, constructed three homes on the island in 1939 with the intention of creating an artists’ colony.

The Isola Comacina now houses the Church of San Giovanni, a number of archaeological sites, particularly church ruins, three artist houses, and a well-known inn that was constructed in 1964. (unfortunately, this is currently closed).
