Rapper Ye, perhaps better known as Kanye West, asked former President Donald Trump to be his running mate in 2024 on Thanksgiving evening.

“I think the thing that Trump was most perturbed about, me asking him to be my vice president,” West said in the video. “I think that was like lower on the list of things that caught him off-guard.”

The video was released on Twitter—accompanied by the caption “#YE24”—a week and a half after Trump announced he would run for president again in 2024.

A former presidential candidate himself, West unsuccessfully ran for the White House in 2020. BBC reported that he accumulated 60,000 votes in the 2020 presidential election.

The video said “Mar-a-Lago Debrief,” suggesting the pair met up at Trump’s Florida estate. “I came to him as someone who loves Trump, and I said, ‘Go and get Corey [Lewandowski] back. Go and get these people the media tried to cancel and told you to step away from,’” West said as the video displayed images of Roger StoneKaren Giorno and Alex Jones.

“When Trump started basically screaming at me at the table telling me I was going to lose — I mean has that ever worked for anyone in history,” West said in the video. “I’m like hold on, hold on, hold on, Trump, you’re talking to Ye.”

“Why when you had the chance did you not free the January 6ers?” West said he asked Trump, referring to the people locked up for their involvement in the Capitol attack.

West has been caught in a storm of controversy recently, as he made anti-semetic comments and wore a shirt reading “White Lives Matter” at Paris Fashion Week. Numerous companies, perhaps most notably Adidas, cut their partnerships with West following his remarks; the rapper then wrote on Instagram that he lost “two billion dollars in one day.”

Earlier this week, Rolling Stone reported on the “the toxic and chaotic environment” West allegedly created at Adidas, including “verbal abuse,” watching pornography, and demonstrating “a very sick pattern of predacious behavior toward women.”
