The New York Yankees are starting to play better baseball as the postseason nears. The Yankees entered Sunday 14-5 since Aug. 24.

The Yankees entered Sunday trailing the Toronto Blue Jays by three games in the American League East. The team is making a late push to win the division after an extended slump. All-Star second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. sent a message to the rest of the league as the Yankees look to make another run to the World Series.

“I feel like any team that thinks they’re better than us, they should know when we step on the field, we’re coming with relentlessness,” Chisholm said, per MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch. “And we’re coming to step on necks.”

For most of the season, the Yankees have not been stepping on many necks like Jazz is saying they intend to down the stretch. Chisholm has been a great player for the Yankees this season, and if the Yankees want to make a deep run in October, he will play a major role.

Chisholm was an All-Star this season for the second time. He is slashing .246/.340/.493 with 29 home runs. He has stolen 30 bases as well. The Yankees do not have any games remaining against contenders, so they could go into the postseason on a hot streak.

The Yankees finish the season playing the Baltimore Orioles, Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox. The Yankees could overtake the Blue Jays in the final weeks of the season.
