Bling Empire fans have been questioning what happened to Cherie Chan and Jessey Lee since the series returned for its third season.

Chan and Lee were part of the Netflix reality show’s original cast and were introduced to fans when the series began in 2021.

In early 2022, teasers for Season 2 of Bling Empire, which aired in May 2022, suggested that an upcoming storyline would explore rumors about Lee having a “secret second family.”

Once the show returned, however, Lee and Chan appeared in just a few episodes before suddenly leaving.

Newsweek has everything you need to know about what happened with Cherie and Jessey on Bling Empire.

Why Did Cherie Chan and Jessey Lee Leave Bling Empire?

Cherie Chan and Jessey Lee have revealed that they left Bling Empire mid-way through Season 2 to focus on their family and their businesses.

They added to TMZ that they were grateful for being on the first season of the show and wished the rest of the cast success.

The couple’s first child, J’adore, was born in 2017 and they then welcomed son Jevon in 2019.

After news of their exit from the show Chan explained that it was hard to walk away from reality TV life but, ultimately, she did it because she wanted to “protect” her children.

She told The Sun: “It’s tough. As a mom, I’m really worried about the kids. It’s stressful being a mom. It’s great, but it comes with a lot of mom wanting to protect her child. I had no idea it was going to be this big!”

Chan and Lee got engaged in the finale of Bling Empire Season 1, with Chan proposing to Lee during their son Jevon’s ‘100 Day’ party.

They then married on September 8th, 2021 in France, tying the knot at Moët & Chandon’s restored Château de Saran castle in Champagne, France.

Chan and Lee actually kept the news of their wedding secret for some time, only confirming the news months later in a February 2022 article in Brides.

A few months after the article was published, in May 2022, Chan posted pictures from the special day on her Instagram, but it was the caption that got Bling Empire fans talking.

She captioned the picture: “Married to the love of my life. Don’t be friends with people who try to hurt your family, kids, and close friends. I will protect you always. It’s ok to marry, fall in love, have kids, divorce, marry again, we should always celebrate love and be there for one another. #positivevibesonly.”

Chan’s words are presumably in reference to Lee’s ex-wife Crystal Hoang. She and Lee married in 2011 and split four years later, however they did not finalise their divorce until 2019.

According to the Cinemaholic, Lee and Hoang have two children together.

In the first episode Bling Empire Season 2, Lee and Hoang’s marriage was mentioned for the first time on the show when Jaime Xie’s friend Leah Qin revealed she believed Lee had another family, and that Chan had met Lee when he was still with his previous wife.

The other cast members seemed completely unaware that Lee had ever been married and worried that Chan didn’t know either. It was later revealed that Chan knew about his marriage, and actually used to be friends with Hoang.

Fans have speculated whether the discussions about Lee and his past are the real reason he and Chan left the show so abruptly.

Newsweek has contacted representatives for Lee and Chan for comment.

Bling Empire is available to stream on Netflix.
