PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Rain and windy weather ramp up across western Oregon and southwest Washington on Tuesday.
The second storm of the week is expected to move through the greater Portland/Vancouver area early Tuesday afternoon.
Winds could gust close to 30 mph along the Willamette Valley, especially towards the Salem area, as a cold front swings through the region. Heavy downpours of rain are expected by the afternoon hours and last through the evening. Temperatures will struggle to warm into the low 70s for some along the Willamette Valley.
Gusty winds are expected to last through much of the day on Tuesday and linger into Wednesday. Rain accumulation will reach a quarter of an inch, with some localized areas seeing more through Tuesday night.
Scattered rain showers are expected to linger through the day on Thursday. September will end with cooler than average temperatures, as October starts wet and windy on Wednesday.
The return of cool and wet weather will help lower snow elevations to nearly 6,000.’ No real snow accumulation is expected below 6,000,’ but a wet snowflake or two is possible in places like Timberline Lodge and Mt. Hood Meadows.
A gradual warming and drying trend will start to take shape by the end of the week. Afternoon highs will return to near normal conditions with highs in the upper 60s and low 70s. Sunshine will also become more frequently abundant.
