WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — West Sacramento Mayor Martha Guerrero is entering the race for California’s 6th Congressional District.
Guerrero, who is running as a democrat, was first elected mayor in 2020 and was re-elected in 2024.
She previously served on the West Sacramento City Council in 2018 and held many advisory seats within Yolo County, according to her city bio.
California’s 6th Congressional District includes much of Sacramento County. Under new boundaries approved by Proposition 50, the district covers north Sacramento, Natomas, East Sacramento, West Sacramento, North Highlands, Citrus Heights, Antelope, Orangevale, Roseville and Rocklin.
The 6th Congressional District race includes Sacramento County District Attorney Thien Ho and former State Sen. Dr. Richard Pan.
The district is currently represented by Congressman Ami Bera, who is running for re-election in the redrawn District 3.
