On a memorable Wednesday night, P!nk graced the stage during her Summer Carnival tour and delivered a heartwarming tribute to the late Sinead O’Connor, who left us all too soon yesterday at the age of 56.

The news of O’Connor’s passing shook the music world, and P!nk, known for her powerhouse performances, made sure to honor the Irish singing sensation in the most touching way.

The Summer Carnival tour’s first U.S. date was already special, but P!nk took a heartfelt pause to pay homage to the late singer-songwriter. Breaking away from her usual high-energy, choreographed show, P!nk brought out the incredible Brandi Carlile to join her in a special rendition of “Nothing Compares 2 U.”

Originally penned by Prince for his side project the Family back in 1985, it was Sinead O’Connor’s haunting version of the song in 1990 that catapulted her to stardom.

For P!nk, this tribute hit close to home. She revealed to the audience that the soul-stirring track held a special place in her heart since her childhood days. Recounting her memories, P!nk shared, “When I was a little girl, my mom grew up in Atlantic City, and I used to go down to the Ocean City Boardwalk with my ten dollars and I would make a demo tape… I would make a little cassette tape and imagine it was my demo for the record company.”

And which songs made it to her makeshift demos? None other than Whitney Houston’s “Greatest Love of All” and, of course, Sinead O’Connor’s timeless “Nothing Compares 2 U.” That’s how profound an impact this song had on the young P!nk’s aspiring musical journey.

When it came time to honor Sinead’s legacy, P!nk turned to her very talented friend, Brandi, to help create a poignant moment on stage. The two powerhouse vocalists came together, pouring their hearts into the song’s heartbreaking lyrics.
