Two face charges in Waldorf for allegedly plotting to burn a hookah lounge, with police citing personal motives.
WALDORF, Md. — Two people are facing charges for an alleged plot to burn a Waldorf hookah lounge in October.
Police began investigating after fire crews responded to Pasha Lounge at 3242 Old Washington Road, Waldorf, on Oct. 30 around 12:30 a.m.
When they arrived, they found the front door forced open and the fire inside.
Crews had the fire under control in under 40 minutes.
According to police, 37-year-old Shawn Hill Justice reportedly told them he was egged on by Pasha employee Ashley Elizabeth Ellis, 35.
Officials say Justice was motivated by a “personal relationship,” but declined to provide specifics.
Investigators determined that the fire, which they believed to be arson, started inside the business’ humidor room.
Damages are estimated to be between $25,000 and $50,000.
Justice is charged with second-degree arson, first-degree malicious burning, second-degree burglary, and destruction of property over $1,000.
Ellis is charged with conspiracy to commit second-degree arson and burglary.
