RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) — A driver was charged after his car crashed into a Wake County Sheriff’s Office transport van on Monday.
The crash happened just before 1 p.m. at Hammond Road and Rush Street. Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
Two detention officers and 11 inmates were in the van at the time of the crash. Their conditions have not been released at this time.
The driver of the car, Andrew Wofford, 45, was charged with careless and reckless driving, driving left of center, and failure to reduce speed.
One deputy, the inmates, and a passenger in the car were all taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
Wofford and the deputy driving the van were not injured.
Raleigh police officers are investigating the incident.
