Visa and passport service provider CIBT Global has named board member Marc Kaplan its new CEO, effective immediately, the McLean, Va.-based company announced Tuesday.

Kaplan also is a senior advisory board member for private equity firm Kohlberg & Company, which became CIBT’s majority owner in 2019. Kaplan’s 25-year career includes stints with Deloitte and the Associated Press, according to CIBT, and he also founded ChekMarc, a digital software company.

Kaplan is charged with “firmly establish[ing] CIBT as the global leader in mobility services,” according to the company. He replaces as CEO Eric Scheinerman, who CVIBT said would remain on the company’s board.
