Virginia police pursuit suspect crashed, then ran from car before being arrested: Troopers

Virginia state police arrested Jaiden Riddick after a high-speed chase led to a crash and brief foot pursuit in Fairfax County.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — Virginia state police arrested a man after he sped away from an attempted traffic stop in Fairfax County and then ran from the scene of a crash before being caught in a local neighborhood early Sunday morning.

According to police, Jaiden Riddick, 24, of Clinton was driving 95 miles per hour on I-395 near I-95 southbound when they tried to pull him over.

They say Riddick refused to stop the Chevrolet Malibu with Ohio registration that he was driving, prompting police to begin a pursuit.

Riddick allegedly drove south before exiting I-95 in Lorton. Police continued chasing him when he got back onto I-95 northbound.

Police says Riddick eventually exited at Route 644, where state police stopped chasing him.

When they stopped the pursuit, Riddick reportedly crashed into a guardrail and a tree on the left side of the road and then ran away on foot.

With the help of Fairfax County police, troopers caught and arrested Riddick in a nearby neighborhood.

He was taken to a local hospital for treatment, having suffered what police describe as minor injuries.

Police have not said why they think Riddick tried to speed away from the traffic stop.

He’s been charged with eluding, reckless driving, and not having a valid operator’s license.

A passenger who was in the Malibu remained at the scene of the crash and has not been charged with any crimes.
