Virginia man arrested for alleged minor solicitation using social media

An investigation was launched, and evidence recovered confirmed Orlando Mesinas Diaz’s connection to the initial report.

WASHINGTON — A man has been arrested for using social media to try and solicit sex from a minor.

On Friday, the Culpeper Police Department arrested Orlando Mesinas Diaz, 43, following an investigation into the solicitation of prostitution from a minor. Someone reported the incident to police earlier in the month.

An investigation was launched, and evidence recovered confirmed Diaz’s connection to the initial report. When police located Diaz, he was driving a car under the influence and without a driver’s license.

Diaz is being charged with:

  • Three felony counts of Use of a Communications System to Facilitate Offenses Involving 
    Children
  •  Three felony counts of Taking Indecent Liberties with a Minor
  • Three felony counts of Soliciting Prostitution from a Minor
  • One misdemeanor count of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol
  • One misdemeanor count of Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Valid License

He is being held without bond.
