(KRON) — A burglary suspect who ran from police Monday was later found hiding in a home’s trash bin, according to the Petaluma Police Department.
Police were called to a home on Cordelia Drive in Petaluma around 9 a.m., after a man was allegedly seen entering a garage and stealing a leaf blower and other items. An officer spotted a man matching the suspect’s description and tried to stop him, but the man sped away on a bicycle, the Petaluma Police Department said.

The officer requested backup and gave chase on foot. Petaluma PD launched a drone in the area and found the suspect hopping a backyard fence and ducking into a garbage can.
“It’s not everyday we find someone in a garbage can, but today it was,” Petaluma PD said.
Officers arrested the man, who was identified as Robert Arteaga. Arteaga was booked into the Sonoma County Jail for residential burglary and prowling charges. Arteaga also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
