According to our friends at the American Gaming Association, US gambling revenue got the month of October rose over 10% from the previous year. That marks the 20th month of growth in a row of positive gambling news in this respect, and brings the yearly totals to just shy of $50 billion.

The AGA’s Commercial Gaming Revenue Tracker reported that commercial US gambling generated $5.29 billion in October, which was the second highest total revenue total for a single month on record. In fact, the only month that generated more revenue was March of this year, when the total hit $5.35 billion.

Revenue for gambling grew across all verticals from the previous year, with slot machines and table games accounted for over 75% of the total revenue figures. Slots revenue was up 2.4% while table game revenue increased just 1.9%.

While sports betting continues to grow across the country, it only accounted for a bit over $800 million. October had a full sports betting calendar, resulting in the highest volume of betting since January. Players in 27 legal American sports betting jurisdictions wagered over $9 billion on sporting events.

Online gambling revenue set a new monthly record, generating over $450 million, which accounted for nearly 9% of the total US gambling revenue total. That trend should only increase, as more and more states make the connection that mobile sports betting is, in fact, online gambling. Thus paving the way for increased regulation.

The Commercial Gaming Revenue Tracker provides state-by-state and nationwide data on commercial gaming in America. These monthly updates are available by visiting the AGA website.
