Unadvertised Bonus for Bilt Mastercard
Bilt Rewards and the Bilt Mastercard issued by Wells Fargo have quickly become well known in the miles and points circles. Bilt Rewards has recently offered some great promotions on Rent Day such as 100% bonus to Flying Blue and HawaiianMiles, or a Hyatt Status Challenge. You also get free points every month on Rent Day (1st of month) through an easy quiz, or 5x with Bilt Dining.
Bilt Rewards is free to join, but in order to accumulate more points you do need to apply for the Bilt Mastercard. The card earn 1x on rent payments up to 100K per year, 2x on travel and 3x on dining. The earning rate is doubled (not for rent payments) on the first of every month, so you can earn 6x on dining and 4x on travel. You can read more about the loyalty program and the credit card here.
While the card is a very solid product and comes with no annual fee, it has a major flaw. It does not come with a signup bonus, at least officially. Signup bonuses are a major reason for applying for a credit card as they provide a huge boost to your point balance, or just a nice amount of cash.
Bilt Mastercard Bonus
The unadvertised bonus for the Bilt Mastercard was recently mentioned by Rik in our Facebook Group. It is not a traditional signup bonus as you might expect from other issuers.
If you apply and are approved for the Bilt Mastercard, you will receive an email with the bonus offer on the same day that the card is delivered. The offer states that you will earn a total of 5x points on all eligible purchases for the first five days, up to a maximum of 50,000 bonus points. This promotional offer is only valid for 5 days from the date you receive this email, so it’s best to time your application well. Maybe you can make a tax payment for example.
During this time you will earn a total of 5 rewards points, (1 base point plus 4 bonus points), per $1 spent on net purchases (purchases minus returns/credits), excluding purchases classified as Rent. That means that you can maximize this bonus with $1,500 in spending within the first five days.
You must make at least 5 transactions each statement period using your Bilt Mastercard to earn points, including bonus points for this promotional offer. So you can’t just make one $12,500 purchase for example.

Guru’s Wrap-up
Applying for a credit card with no signup bonus is not something you want to do. While the Bilt Mastercard is great for renters, it’s still not worth a 5/24 spot for many.
But with a signup bonus that can get you up to 50,000 points, the Bilt Mastercard gets much more interesting. And even if you still think it’s not worth applying, you should at least sign up for Bilt Rewards so you can collect free points every month and maybe take advantage of some of those great Rent Day promotions.
It’s worth noting that this offer might change, and it’s possible to not even get a bonus at all. In the past we have seen other offers for better or worse. You could earn 10x on first 5 days up to 50,000 points, or 2x on all non-bonused spend for a month. The latter was the offer when I applied back in March of 2022, which really isn’t much of a bonus at all.
