AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – Friday night was the launch of the UMass Amherst ‘University Without Walls’ Interdisciplinary Studies` Social Justice Residency.

This event takes place over the weekend and allows students who are earning their degree online a unique opportunity to experience the program in person.

Scholar and Reproductive Justice organizer Jallicia Jolly delivered the keynote presentation at UMass Amherst Center at Springfield. 22News spoke with Julie Skogsbergh, Chair of the program, who said this year’s theme is called ‘Good Trouble: Looking at Everyday Activism.’

“Social justice is an opportunity for all of us to think about the world we live in, to engage in critical thinking, about what we are seeing around us and in the world around us,” said Skogsbergh.

‘University Without Walls’ has been with UMass Amherst since 1971.
