DAVIS, Calif. — A fraternity at UC Davis is being investigated over hazing allegations.
Alpha Kappa Psi is under review and was ordered to stop operations, according to UC Davis.
The fraternity describes itself as a business fraternity that offers professional development and social networking on its website. The fraternity’s website and social media were private as of Thursday morning.
“We take all allegations of hazing seriously, and expect student organizations and their members to honor our Principles of Community and standards of conduct, including the Registered Student Organization Conduct Policy,” the university said in a statement.
UC Davis said fraternities and sororities are required to provide members with hazing prevention training and information.
Hazing, according to StopHazing is “any action taken or any situation created intentionally that causes embarrassment, harassment or ridicule and risks emotional and/or physical harm to members of a group or team, whether new or not, regardless of the person’s willingness to participate.”
