Two Raleigh crashes Friday kill one person, send five more to the hospital

Two large accidents on Friday night sent multiple people to Triangle hospitals.

According to the Raleigh Police Department, one of the accidents happened around 8:38 p.m. at the intersection of Tryon Road and Trailwood Drive in Raleigh. Police said one person died from their injuries in the crash.

Two other people were also injured in the crash and a child was in one of the cars involved in the crash. All three are expected to be okay.

It is unclear what caused the crash, and police have closed Tryon Road at Trailwood Drive while they investigate.

On the other side of the city, two vehicles crashed 10 minutes earlier at the intersection of the Brier Creek Parkway and Glenwood Avenue. Police said three vehicles were involved in the crash and it was started after a truck towing a trailer rear-ended a sedan, which caused the sedan to hit the car in front of it.

According to police, two adults and two children were in the sedan were taken to the hospital as a precaution. Authorities are currently working to clear the accident, which shut down four lanes.
