The exceedingly charming Troye Sivan is a few minutes late for our Zoom call. The Australian star had lost track of time during a leisurely lunch in Milan with his Italian cousin, who’d taken the train in from an hour away.

“I just had Osso Bucco, oxtail,” he says, laughing. “We’re living large.”

Sivan, who found stardom on YouTube as a child before blooming into a major actor and pop sensation, has a lot going on at the moment. His hotly anticipated third LP, Something to Give Each Other, is out today. It’s buoyed by two great singles: the rollicking “Rush,” about finding love or something like it in a crowded room, and the dazzling “Got Me Started,” an ode to unearthing love from inside yourself. Those tracks also boast two of the best music videos in recent memory, due in no small part to the killer moves dreamt up by Dutch choreographers Sergio Reis and Mauro Van De Kerkhof. Sivan hadn’t done much choreo prior, but was extra eager after the duo presented him with their riveting vision: Janet Jackson, if she grew up in Eastern Europe.

In the midst of it all—an album rollout, a standout role on HBO’s The Idol, and a fashion month tour de force culminating in his walking the Miu Miu show last week—Sivan also launched his own lifestyle brand this year: Tsu Lange Yor, named after a Yiddish toast meaning “to long years.” The label’s fragrances and homewares are some of the many things Troye Sivan Strongly Endorses these days.

Tinted brows

“I had to bleach my brows for a music video, and then by the end of the day, I had to have unbleached brows again for the final shot of the video. So, they dyed my eyebrows back to brown and they accidentally dyed them a little bit too dark—and I’m obsessed, because I fill in my brows every single day normally, and I don’t have to do that anymore. I think I’m going to start tinting my brows.

“I mean, I’m sure everyone else has known about eyebrow tint for a lot longer than I have, but it’s a really good hack. It saves me 30 seconds in the morning. Actually, my eyebrow pencil [just] ran out, so it’s perfect timing.”

Tsu Lange Yor fragrances

“Lately I have been mixing and matching [scents], which has been really fun. I’m doing a combination of TLY 5755, which is our signature scent, and Luca, and I wear them kind of both at the same time, and I play with the ratios of how much of each every day. I think that they work well together—and I would hope so, because I made them—but I love both of these scents so much. To see them complement each other in this way, I feel a bit like a proud father.

“I spent a week at our first pop-up store in Melbourne, and among everything else, I was also a vibe manager, so I would do the occasional walk around the space with a bottle and spray all around the room. And so it’s now got this scent memory locked in of that pop-up week—it reminds me of being in Melbourne and riding my bike to the pop-up every day. It was a really special time.”

A hearty moisturizer for long flights

“A thick moisturizer is always good for when you’re traveling. I’ve been using Weleda Skin Food for a long time now, and especially on a flight, I’ll just do a little bit of a thicker layer. I mean, this stuff is thick. I find it easiest to apply right after I’ve washed my face when there’s a little bit of water still on my face because it kind of needs that sort of thinning out. It gives you a really nice sort of dewy glow. I’m lucky I don’t have particularly fussy skin, so my skin can kind of take that level of moisture, especially when I’m on a flight.”

Salomon ACS Pro hiking shoes

“I wear my Salomon hiking shoes all the time, even when I’m not hiking. I got them for the ‘Got Me Started’ music video actually, and I love the way that they look. They’re super lightweight, especially when I’m traveling, I feel like I could walk a million miles in them. I wish they had a little bit more height, because I do like adding a little bit of height, but that’s it.”

The wild world of YouTube urban-planning videos

“I love these architecture/urban planning videos by this YouTube channel called The B1M. They’ll be like, ‘How Paris Is Preparing for the Olympics,’ and it’ll be a video about them cleaning up the Seine and whatever. And it’s like a 15, 20 minute infographic, infotainment video, and they are the perfect amount of informative and super interesting, while also just boring enough that if you want to close your eyes and fall asleep, you can. They’re so interesting and beautifully made. They’re perfect for lying in bed, watching videos before you go to sleep.”
