TreesMatthews is holding its annual tree giveaway on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. (or until all trees are given away.) It takes place at Matthews United Methodist Church, 801 S Trade Street, Matthews, North Carolina.
The tree adoption event offers two FREE native trees per residence within the Town of Matthews.
Pre-registration is open until October 19, 2025.

Register here for the tree adoption event. If you pre-register you must pick up your tree by 9:30 a.m. After that, pre-registered trees will be given away on a first come, first served basis.
Registration does not guarantee that you will reserve a tree.
- Proof of residence must be shown.
- Each tree comes with a free bag of mulch.
- Experts will be on site to provide guidance as to what tree might be appropriate for your location.
- Everyone receiving a tree must take a brief class on how to plant and care for your tree.
- Volunteers will help load your trees and mulch into your vehicle.
