Traffic was gridlocked on the Bay Bridge Sunday morning after a crash in the westbound lanes. Shortly before 9:15 a.m., California Highway Patrol issued an alert for severe traffic on the Bay Bridge. A crash on westbound I-80, just past Treasure Island Road, left an overturned vehicle that is blocking several lanes of traffic. Caltrans traffic cameras showed the backup goes all the way to the toll plaza, with cars crawling along the length of the westbound direction of the bridge.
According to Caltrans, just one lane is currently open.
“Motorists are advised to expect delays and to use alternate routes to avoid the area,” a 511 alert said. “There is no estimated time to reopen the roadway.”
