While I use milk for baking and other mixtures, when it comes to actually drinking it, I’m fully on Team Plant-Based. From protein shakes to breakfast drinks, I consistently turn to milk made with almonds, cashews, grains, and more. In fact, I’ve been drinking them so long that you’d think I would have started making my own years ago, but that’s simply not the case. I would look up recipes for different nut milks, but I never got far enough down the DIY rabbit hole to actually try them myself. It seemed tedious, time-consuming, and expensive, so I naturally shied away — at first. Once I started using plant-based milk machines, however, I completely changed my tune, especially since I can get a ton of servings out of a single bag of almonds. I have one plant-based milk-maker that I love for large batches, but for conveniently single-serve, on-the-spot milks, it doesn’t get much better than the Nutr Machine.

For starters, Nutr sends you nearly everything you need to start making your own milk, including a recipe book. Available in both white and black, the machine comes with a chic metal tablespoon to measure ingredients, a power cord, and a filter that fits into any size cup to strain your freshly-made milk. The machine itself is so stylish and sleek that I don’t mind it taking up space on my counter, but it’s small enough to store on a shelf in my pantry without getting in the way, too. The machine can make a variety of plant-based milks, including almond, cashew, oat, soy, coconut, pistachio, rice, and more. It also makes dairy-free creamer, which is so helpful for me since I often forget to buy more when I run out. Now, I’m able to whip some up at a moment’s notice!

If you’re new to making your own plant-based milk, you’ll be happy to know that the Nutr Machine is incredibly user-friendly, even for first-timers. The milk and creamer recipes only differ in the amount of water you use, and each base recipe leaves plenty of room for customization, from how you’d prefer to sweeten it to how you can use your milk after it’s done. Nutr’s website even has more complex recipes you can try with your creations, including smoothies, pudding, compotes, pancakes, and more. I loved that it made me less apprehensive about making my own milk and creamer at home — even though I was familiar with my other machine, it felt like I had to make time to use it. The Nutr, however, works the other way around: It fits into my schedule.

Another impressive feature about the Nutr Machine are its settings. It can make room temperature, warm, and hot blends, depending on your recipe. It can boil water and keep beverages warm, and there’s even a delay start function that allows you to soak nuts and grains for up to 18 hours before blending. Ingredients are added directly into the vessel, and it takes less than 20 minutes to complete a blend. There’s also a small display screen that lets you know how much time is left in seconds before your drink is complete. So far, I’ve made almond milk and cashew creamer, and both took less than five minutes. Additionally, the milk you make can stay fresh up to three days in the refrigerator. One more great feature is the machine’s self-cleaning function, which only requires a bit of dish soap and warm water to run a 90-second cycle.

Personally, what I consider to be the absolute best thing about the Nutr Machine is its single-serving capability. I’m not blending for a large household, so small portions are a must in many cases. I can make almond milk to drink ASAP or make enough to chill and save for later. I made cashew creamer earlier this week, and one batch was enough to last me two or three coffees. The filter is also handy for cutting down on the graininess of cashews or removing pulp from almond milk. The end result is creamy and delicious dairy-free milk — and you can make it even creamier with a second blend. I use my Nutr Machine all the time now. I used to stress when I’d run out of plant-based milk because it always seemed to happen at the most inconvenient times. Now, I don’t have to worry about spending money or gas since I can make it right at home with ingredients that are staples on my grocery list.

If you’re curious about Nutr or have been waiting to buy one for yourself or as a gift, it’s time to take the leap! Nutr is having a sale for Cyber Season, giving you 20 percent off Nutr Machines with the code SHOPEARLY. Bundles are also on sale at varying discounts for those wanting to Go Nuts, keep it cozy with Breakfast for Two, or something in between. You’re welcome!
