With 2022’s spooky/Halloween season in full swing, it’s only right that we give you a breakdown of some of the best Halloween classic movies! Get ready to want to do some binge-watching!
Beetlejuice
We had to start this list with this Tim Burton classic, it truly never gets old. From the soundtrack, courtesy of Harry Belafonte, to the birth of one of the greatest spooky characters of all time, Lydia Deetz, Beetlejuice never misses. We are still holding out hope every time we go into our attic that we will be met by a scaled-down model of our entire town and two ghosts, but no luck so far.
A Nightmare on Elm Street
One of the greatest horror movie franchises of all time is A Nightmare On Elm Street, there’s no question about it! The turn they took the franchise in with giving Freddy an actual personality – something Michael and Jason didn’t ever really develop – was the smartest move possible.
Halloweentown
Halloweentown feels like the warmest hug, it’s a perfect blast of nostalgia that exudes the feeling of fall. The spooky season simply isn’t complete without catching up with our favorite Cromwell witches. And as much as we have mixed feelings about the re-cast for Return to Halloweentown, we think the whole franchise is a must-watch this season!
Halloween
You can’t get more classic Halloween than a movie named after the holiday! Halloween brought us the staple slasher film, and in the year 2022, it’s still so iconic that we’re getting new installments. And we’re still getting to see Jamie Lee Curtis be our final girl!
Hocus Pocus
Much like Halloweentown, Hocus Pocus is a necessary warm hug during the fall season. The Sanderson sisters have been absolute staples in so many of our upbringings, and the fact that we are about to get to see them on the screen again in Hocus Pocus 2 makes us so incredibly happy. Some of our all-time favorite movie quotes hail from this film.
It
If you want a true horror film, look no further than It! While this is one of the newest films on the list, it still feels like a classic given the book it hails from! The casting was perfect in a way we hadn’t seen in a movie in a long time, which continued into the second film.
Practical Magic
One of the most overlooked Halloween movies of all time is Practical Magic, so of course, we had to include it. Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock were the ultimate duo, and the movie has completely stood the test of time!
