The late Suzanne Whang, who died in 2019, always had something memorable to wear. The dramatic floor-length coat and oh-so-Y2K black choker she wore for a pre-Grammy party in 2013 is everything (per Getty). Though it might remind us of Morpheus’ trench coat in “The Matrix” or an outfit vampire Laszlo Cravensworth might wear, we can’t ignore the pull of a good power color. We’ll miss you and your memorable style, Suzanne!
You’ll probably recognize Suzanne because she’s been in pretty much everything: “Two and a Half Men,” “Las Vegas,” “General Hospital,” “Dexter,” “The Kim Kardashian Show,” and more. Though those were mostly temporary, minor roles, the actor made it big on HGTV’s launch of “House Hunters” in 1999. By 2016, the show was reportedly raking in 25 million viewers each month (per The Washington Post). In 2023, it was still going strong in its 225th season on the air!
Aside from her time on HGTV, Suzanne was also a stand-up comedian, a writer, and an outspoken advocate for the Asian American community. “I really encourage Asian Americans and Asian-born Asians to be artists,” she told UCLA. “Art can be revolutionary.”
