I used to play Seiken Densetsu 3 on emulator and this remake is very faithful to the original. They added a few concepts and made the game more accessible like showing the skills that can be learned when you invest your stats points for example. The story is confusing, even more than the original, due to a weird pacing in the game (and I’ve played the original) the fighting system is horribly dumb (and you gonna fight a lot here). It mostly comes down to repeating the same button sequences like attack-attack-attack-heavy attack to do a “finisher” and that’s all you do with the fighting characters. In the late game when you finally have abilities, you use them to buff and debusff, then hit the attack combo over and over again.
The leveling system is just bad and bears no impact – it’s almost negligible to select any stat – the benefits are minor. Post game… Oh boi.. is also boring. One major dungeon which is just more button mashing, has basically no impact or meaning in the game’s context, but you can repeat it to get more abilities. But since the game is over, you don’t need them anyway.
