GQ’s back with another new series, and this time we’re discussing the biggest fits of your favorite celebrities throughout their fashion career. In the debut episode, GQ’s fashion director at large, Mobolaji Dawodu, and street style savant Josh Peskowitz rank Timothée Chalamet’s most iconic red carpet outfits. Chalamet’s known for not only being an onscreen heartthrob, but also for taking major risks when it comes to his style. As Peskowitz puts it, “Timothée Chalamet is known to have some of the biggest fits on the red carpet.”

The fashion moments in the lineup include Chalamet at the 2020 Golden Globes, the 2022 Venice Film Festival, the 2021 Met Gala (where he was also the host), the 2022 Oscars and the Bones and All film premiere. Although each fit is unique, Peskowitz and Dawodu are quick to point out some common themes. “Your boy likes a high Chelsea boot and a high pant,” says Peskowitz. Paired with those Chelsea boots and cropped trousers, typically, is something that shows a lot of Chalamet’s upper body. Take his Venice Film Festival look where Chalamet showed up in a red halter top. “I happened to be there, and when he popped out in this the crowd went wild,” says Dawodu. “I was like ‘What?’ And then I was like, ‘Okay.’”

You’ll have to watch to see exactly where each look landed in Peskowitz and Dawodu’s final big fit lineup, but it seems like we’ve got enough to establish what we’re calling The Chalamet Rule: the less fabric… the bigger the fit. As Peskowitz says, “95% of the bigness of the fit comes down to attitude.”

He found superstardom and artistic acclaim instantaneously. Now, with unique candor, the actor of a generation reveals what it’s like to come of age in our very upside-down era.
