New Citi ThankYou Transfer Partner
Citi revealed today a new transfer partner for its ThankYou Points program. The Leading Hotels of the World’s Leaders Club is the newest ThankYou Points transfer partner, and its 18th overall. This is Citi’s fourth hotel partner and it is a first for The Leading Hotels of the World.
Leaders Club is the guest loyalty program of The Leading Hotels of the World. Eligible cardmembers can redeem points at the portfolio’s more than 400 independent, luxury hotels in over 80 destinations. Leaders Club members receive preferential service and elite travel benefits, including complimentary nights, pre-arrival upgrade opportunities and on-property perks like breakfast for two at any Leading Hotel around the world. Leaders Club is free to join and points do not expire as long as your account remains active.
Citi Premier and Citi Prestige cardmembers can now transfer ThankYou Points to redeem through Leaders Club, the exclusive tiered guest loyalty program that provides access to Leading Hotels’ exclusive collection. Hotels include the likes of Acqualina Resort in Florida, The Lowell in New York City, Malibu Beach Inn in California, Il Sereno in Italy, Adare Manor in Ireland, Ritz Paris in France, La Mamounia in Morrocco, Gstaad Place in Switzerland, Hotel Sacher Vienna in Austria, Palace Hotel Tokyo in Japan, and many more.
You will already see Leaders Club as a transfers option in your accounts. As for the transfer ratio, you will get 200 Leaders Club Points for every 1,000 ThankYou Points. That makes it a 5:1 transfer ratio. The only other way to earn Leaders Club points is by staying at LHW properties.
Should You Transfer Points
While that looks like a terrible deal, it actually a decent option for using ThankYou Points. Free night redemption begins at 4,000 points. Since there are no award charts, you will have to know your dates of travel first to search on LHW.com and determine the number of points needed for a redemption. This will also help you decide if it’s worth transferring ThankYou points to the program.
Leaders Club uses a dynamic pricing model that determines the number of points needed per night. You can consistently get a value of about 8 cents per point when booking LHW award stays. That means a value of about 1.6 cents per ThankYou Point.
All the Leaders Club perks mentioned above are available whether you pay with cash or points.
