In the mood for a festive 5-minute fireside chat to warm your spirits this holiday season?
Once upon a time, I had some fun writing a poem about red meat in the style of Dr. Seuss’ beloved poem How the Grinch Stole Christmas—except in this rendition, the villain isn’t the Grinch, it’s the World Health Organization (WHO) and their infamous 2015 proclamation about meat and cancer.
Ever since then, whenever December rolled around, I wished I could make a video of my poem, but I never had the time (or the fireplace!) to do it justice—until now.
So, hit play and let’s roast some myths!
My original detailed critique of the WHO report lives on my website here: WHO Says Meat Causes Cancer?
Ok, so maybe meat doesn’t cause colon cancer, but what about all of the other problems with meat? In my book Change Your Diet, Change Your Mind, Chapter 10 (entitled Meat: The Original Superfood) pulls back the curtain on many other health myths about meat including cardiovascular disease, gout, constipation, diabetes, and kidney disease. We also discuss the real risks of eating meat including the nutritional, environmental, and ethical downsides of industrialized meat production.
