Parking at Aurora’s Stanley Marketplace will now come at a minimal cost for diners and shoppers planning to stay longer than three hours.
Starting the first week of April, visitors will get three hours of free parking and be charged $3 for every hour after.
This is being implemented in response to what Stanley Marketplace General Manager Ally Fredeen describes as a need to improve a customer’s parking experience and encourage foot traffic for the more than 50 small businesses they house.
“We’ve heard from customers and people wanting to visit us that parking can be quite the headache,” Fredeen explained. “That’s the whole goal here, is really to just get control of the parking lot in a neighborhood that is becoming more and more dense.”
How the new parking system will work:
The new parking system will use gateless technology and cameras to track who is parking and when they entered the lot.
Visitors will not need to worry about paying or ticketing unless they plan to stay past the allotted three hours. Signage and QR codes will be put up throughout the lot, with more information to be provided in the weeks ahead.
“We do know that 87 minutes is our average length of stay,” Fredeen said. “It’ll also help with safety and security in knowing the cars that are on our property.”
Entering its seventh year in business, Stanley Marketplace is a popular destination for shopping, dining, fitness spaces and other free community events throughout the year.
There is a first come, first serve lot for employees and the surrounding neighborhood still has ample street parking with no time limit.
Stanley Marketplace management also has plans to implement more bike racks in the future.
