Handbag Trends 2024
Over the past few years, we’ve seen a lot of major shifts and new trends in the fashion world. From the movement away from skinny jeans to embracing unique and over-the-top styles, and beyond. Handbag trends are one thing you might not think about as often because most of the time, we invest in one or two high-quality bags and call it a day. But adding some modern ‘of the moment’ handbags can elevate your style and make you look like you know what’s going on in the fashion space. The spring and summer handbag trends are always so much fun to experiment with. This year on the 2024 runways, we’re seeing new handbag trends emerge that are very exciting. Everything from different handbag silhouettes, different textures, and even some chic prints and colors. All of the bag trends listed below will no doubt get you excited to shop again… and ready to make room in your closet!

Trend #1 | Woven, Mesh & Raffia
The first trend is all about natural fibers…think woven, raffia, straw, mesh, fishnet, and fringe. In our opinion, this has been a “trend” every spring and summer for…ever! We love a straw bag for a summer vacation or a sleek woven bag for a summer date night. If you’re looking for a bag that works for everything from the beach to running errands to a casual lunch, Erin found it! This raffia basket bag by Loewe is such a nice size, we love the leather details, the shape is really cool and modern, and the way the material is woven is so unique. It’s a splurge but we found one that’s similar for a fraction of the price here. Plus, we linked some more favorites below.

Trend #2 | Envelope Bags & Clutches
Clutches are making a big comeback this year! Any smaller bag or clutch is very in…but envelope style clutches are what we’re seeing the most. We love that this trend takes a more minimalist approach. If you’re a mom with young kids, this probably won’t work for you since you most likely need to carry more than just the essentials that a clutch allows. But you can rock it on date night or GNO! Some other size-related trends we’re seeing include micro bags, overstuffed bags, round bags, giant bags, and case bags.
Trend #3 | Burgundy & Red Handbags
Red and burgundy have been HOT since fall 2023 and they are still going strong…yes, even for spring and summer! We love that adding a red handbag gives your look a chic pop of color. And there are SO many shades of red out there so you can find one that you really love. If red isn’t your thing, we’re also seeing green handbags and python print bags this year.
Trend #4 | Top Handle Totes
There are SO many different handbag silhouettes that are trending right not but we really love the top handle tote and short-strap shoulder bag trends the most. The top handle totes that are most popular are super sleek and sophisticated. But if you prefer to be hands-free, go with a shoulder bag. We’re also seeing tons of bucket bags and duffle-inspired bags too!
Trend #5 | Embellished Bags
Jewels, and beads, and crystals…oh my! If understated handbags aren’t really your thing, now’s your time to shine, literally. Embellished handbags with sparkles, sequins, chains, rhinestones, crystals, etc. are very “in” right now. And you don’t have to reserve these party bags for just parties. We’re sharing a few below that can be worn dressed up or down. Erin bought the green beaded Staud bag and has worn it with dresses and denim.
