Everyone talks about how hard it is to find jeans that fit right, but no one talks about how difficult it is to find a shampoo that actually works correctly and suits your hair type. What do I mean by “works correctly?” You know, a shampoo has to have that perfect formula that allows for a clean and penetrating lather, a post-wash sensation that doesn’t feel like you completely stripped your hair of all of its healthy oils, and if you’re like me, that means it also has to be clean, vegan, and free of harsh chemicals and fragrances.

It seems like California Naturals cracked the ever-difficult code with their daily shampoo packed with a coconut cleansing complex, agave nectar, and sunflower extract. It’s so good, one reviewer even said, “holy s%$#!! I found this shampoo on Instagram and wow. It really cleans your hair and when you use the conditioner after your hair is literally flawless. Obsessed.”

With reviews starting out that hot, it makes sense why this shampoo has sold out multiple times. Most recently, the brand worked with Owen Wilson, who was already a fan of the shampoo before their partnership. After the partnership was announced in late January, the shampoo promptly sold out. But pssst: We’re here to tell you it’s still available at our favorite store: Target.

California Naturals Coconut Cleansing Vegan, Sulfate & Paraben-Free Daily Shampoo

The plant-based ingredients definitely has something to do with this shampoo‘s success. Here’s a breakdown of what each of the main ingredients does for your hair.

First, there’s the brand’s coconut cleansing complex that works to remove dirt and oil while also conditioning the strands at the same time. Then, there’s agave nectar that helps hydrate hair further. The plant sugars in the extract actually work to eliminate dryness and strengthen hair strands over time. Finally, there’s sunflower extract that works as a natural antioxidant. If you’re unfamiliar, antioxidants are skin and haircare heroes since they work by creating a shield against environmental stressors like pollution and UV rays. Sunflower extract also helps to provide nutrients directly to the scalp that’s needed for hair to grow long and strong.

Another reviewer mentioned it’s perfect for fitness girlies who have to wash their hair daily. “Great daily shampoo,” they wrote. “Gentle enough to use everyday if needed. Was looking for something like this as I do HIIT workouts and not washing my hair is not an option. As for the fragrance I love it.”

Whether you use it daily, every other day, or a few times a week, this shampoo will keep hair hydrated and healthy without over stripping. Plus, at $8.99 for a 12-ounce bottle, you literally can’t beat it.
