This time of year, you’ll catch our dining tables gathering dust — we’re too busy enjoying dinner outside, with a big helping of sunsets, blooming flowers, and fresh air. “I live for eating outdoors,” says The Kitchn’s Editor-in-Chief Lindsay Funston. “As soon as the days get longer and the temperatures start to warm up, my husband and I are carrying our baby’s highchair to the back patio so we can experience the unmatched joy of dining al fresco.”

Whether she’s picnicking in the park, going camping, or grilling at the neighborhood block party, Lindsay keeps her menu fresh and delicious with affordable Good & Gather grocery items from Target. The high-quality ingredients and seasonal flavors amp up all that summertime goodness — even on short notice. Because spontaneity is also in season right now!

“Is it even a proper barbecue without corn on the cob?!” Lindsay says. “It’s the most beloved vegetable of summer for a reason. I love putting out a toppings bar so people can get creative.” Try hot honey, furikake, or elote fixings — and don’t forget the butter!

When it’s too hot to contemplate meal prep or friends stop by unexpectedly, having a pre-prepped fresh side ready in the fridge is a game-changer, Lindsay says. “Repeat after me: You can be a great cook and serve a salad in a bag. This refreshing chopped salad has all the good greens—cabbage, shredded broccoli, lettuce—croutons and almonds for crunch and a tropical guava-mango dressing for a little sweetness.”

These fruity treats are a fresh-squeezed take on summer’s quintessential bev. “Lemonade in some form needs to make an appearance at a summer gathering, so these pops are great to have stashed in the freezer as a dessert that adults and kids will both like,” Lindsay says. “They’re not too sweet and have a nice tang from the citrus.”

We love a sweet-and-savory moment, and this one does double — and triple — duty at Lindsay’s house. “I always find an excuse to use this sauce. The smoky, sweet, tangy flavor levels up a burger or dog (yes, I’m that person), drizzled over grilled corn (trust me!), or brushed on salmon.”

Flavor throwback! Anyone who had those tricolor tubs in the freezer knows how exciting this limited-edition sipper is. “I love having a surprising non-alcoholic beverage on hand for guests,” Lindsay says. “With bright pops of raspberry, lime, and orange, this bubbly water is a delight. Bonus: It doubles as a fun cocktail mixer.”
